The good ol' topic. I was just listening to The Prodigy's 'Smack my bitch up'. Woohoo. Oh, now it's 'Firestarter', same band.

"Glamorous" by that fergalicious hoe-bag.

That's why I love the end of the day - when my manager leaves I can pop in my headphones. The catch is that I don't have my stuff, so I have to listen to w/e youtube has. This is a good song though.

I love Distorted View. I'm currently listening to an old man read a really disgusting/hot poem about sex.

Listening to "Soon" by My Bloody Valentine right now, from their second album "Loveless", which I really didn't expect to like - but it's fantastic! Completely mellow, ambient synth, bass and vocal parts blended with rhythmic, contrastingly noisy and filtered guitar and drum sections. It's lovely, mmm.

Oh, and before that I was listening to "Express Yourself" from NWA's "Straight Outta Compton". I've never really liked rap, but I thought I'd give it a chance anyway, as it's supposed to be one of the best albums within its genre (and because Weird Al referenced it recently Razz). I'm not sure if I like all of it, but it's definitely quite good, especially that track and, er, "A Bitch Iz a Bitch". Razz

Ah! I've been meaning to get into rap and hip hop recently! I'll have to check this out...I think it's always been a guilty pleasure of mine but I've never wanted to accept it. Although there's very little truly GOOD rap and hip hop around. It's hard to find. And beatboxing is awesome. I find myself doing ti almost all the time, really good fun, and has no limits as to what you can do.

And that "Loveless" album, I've wanted to listen to it...and actually have heard one or two songs, and was surprised too! I though (judging only by the name of the band) they were emo, but it's really nice synth-rock! Boards of Canada cite them as a major influence, which is good, of course. Razz

Aaand I was listening to "Meet your Master" by Nine Inch Nails.

Ahh, right. They were actually the first thing I was reminded of on listening to them, because of that slight, rhythmic pitch modulation they both use. Makes everything sound all dream-like. Oh, and I was skeptical about them for the same reason - I was confusing them with Bullet For My Valentine until I heard them. Razz

Listening to "Anxiety" by Bad Religion now. Thrashy punk goodness, oh yes.

"Renunciation" - Secret Chiefs 3

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4_fbW_4w84

I know the bloke at the beginning is annoying but please wait until the song starts playing. Razz

I got their album "Second Grand Constitution and Bylaws" yesterday, it's brilliant.

kaos: "Loveless" is the name of a My Bloody Valentine album, which Boards of Canada like and have drawn inspiration from. Why, do you like Boards of Canada? If so, I congratulate you on your wise choice in music, er, choosing.

And I'm listening to "At the Heart of It All" by Aphex Twin. Amazing track, one of my favourites. The way he mixes real string instruments playing a really sad, beautiful melody and the machine-like, slow industrial beats. Aaah yes.

Yes, I love BoC. I need to buy the newest album and EP (that's two items! Awesome!)

I've only got Geogaddi and I've heard a few other songs from other albums, and I love it. Which album should I get next? Music has the right to children, or the campfire headphase?

KaW...never heard of it. What's it like?

"Windowlicker" - Aphex Twin

Yep, in an Aphex mood tonight. And this song is such an explosion of pure genius. Oh yes.

Ooh. Tough.
Well, Music Has the Right to Children has such classics as roygbiv, telephasic workshop, and happy cycling.
Campfire Headphase... I thought they did a really good job with throwing in the guitar, and Tears From the Compound Eye is a force to be reckoned with.
I'd say go with Campfire Headphase right now, and pick up Music later.

Kyle Ward (KaW) actually has several aliases, including Smiley and his own name. With each name he utilizes a different style. Smiley songs are happy hardcore, whereas KaW songs are a bit more subdued trancey-type stuffs. His site has all of his songs, under all his different names. Plenty of styles. Trance, ambient, chiptune, even.

Oh.
"Good Evening" - John Reuben (Word of Mouth)

Yeah, I've heard some of the songs on Campfire...and yes, the guitar makes it all sound even dreamier. Hmmm...I think I'll decide once I'm in town. Razz

And I was listening to "My Ass is on Fire" by Mr Bungle. ORSHUM in big shiny letters.

"Jack Frost and the Hooded Crow" - Jethro Tull

The version from the christmas album is one of my favourite songs of all time. It's, to quote The Kroc, "ORSHUM in big shiny letters."

A particularly awesome version of Freebird on Lynyrd Skynyrd's Myspace which is the best Freebird ever.
