Does The Mighty Mighty Bosstones count as ska? I only ask because they have a trumpeter, just like this other ska band Reel Big Fish.

They're who I think of when I think of Ska.

"Saints Preserve Us" by Piano Magic.

Piano Magic are really, really good.

I feel like I'm becoming more of an indie kid every day. This is scary.

Yes, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones are Ska. I've heard them, and I liked them.

Wow, I didn't realise it was possible to hate ska. Ska's like the benign, outgoing guy who shows up at a party with a couple of 2-litre bottles of Coke to share and spends the evening darting between rooms and chatting to everyone he sees. He might not be a big man on campus like alternative or hip-hop, but he'd never dream of doing anything to rub anyone up the wrong way, so nobody has an unkind word to say about him.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I'm listening to "Sugar Free Jazz" by Soul Coughing, courtesy of Last FM.

Still failing to see how you can hate anything so fundamentally inoffensive as ska

I liked it. Not so much that I'd hunt down some MP3s and stick 'em on my DS, but I feel it was two minutes well spent.

I'm currently listening to Pink Floyd- Comfortably Numb.

I didn't like ska until pretty recently, to be honest. It just wasn't my thing.

Don't kill me!

Which version? The guitar solo in the PULSE tour is on a completely different level:

He might not be a big man on campus like alternative or hip-hop, but he'd never dream of doing anything to rub anyone up the wrong way, so nobody has an unkind word to say about him.

But then he's a bit sad when he's left on his own because he has lots of friendly acquaintances but no real friends and also he thinks that he's now become typecast as that guy who always brings good stuff for the people like coke in two litres and if he doesn't then people will notice and think it's cold and it's not really fair because he's being nice but people treat that as the default setting and so take him for granted but then again he can always have a new chance when he graduates and after all there's only about 60 more years until the grave and then it won't matter besides time goes quicker when you get older anyway he's doing fine and you have to look on the bright side.

Soul Coughing is good.

Are you familiar with the trial music from Chrono Trigger? It's loosely based on the Pink Floyd track.

Yes, I am, but I didn't notice that. I will have to listen to the two side by side and compare them sometime!

I heart Strauss.

Um, actually I am not listening to anything because I just woke up. But I wanted to supply that small post of camaraderie. And then I wanted to use that word.
